This meeting of European EAP providers was held under the motto "Thinking Outside The Box". There was lots of discussion of what an EAP can achieve, what support clients are looking for and how long this sort of support has been available in Germany.
The EAP Conference was held in Hamburg in mid-June. It was attended by European representatives, plus partners from around the world and a few partner organisations, such as the international and Asian associations. With this year's conference being held in Germany, attendees got insights into the local concept of long-term responsibility for employees. Assistance services on issues ranging from addiction and finances to family affairs have been available for several decades now, under the umbrella term "Occupational social counselling".
The lively discussions and workshops also addressed the focus on client benefit and changes in circumstances, such as waiting lists for psychotherapy. INSITE took part in a discussion on: How is EAP growing on the German market – including in comparison to trends worldwide?
Evening events on the Elbe, overlooking the harbour and the philharmonic, provided an opportunity for attendees to continue the conversation.
The next event will be held in Paris in June 2019.
